Harry Potter (7) Midnight Premiere

I've been reading Harry Potter books all my life, but this is the first time I dressed up and went to the release of anything HP (books or movies). I loved it. Half the fun is in just waiting in line and checking out the crazy outfits/costumes some people wore. The three hour wait was nothing (people had been lining up and camping out since noon/morning) and we pretty much just passed the time with Taboo ("Word Kinshi") on my iTouch ( by far the most useful game I've ever downloaded, btw).

I neglected to take a real outfit picture, so these will have to do. I actually had no idea what I was going to wear, since I don't really have any HP-related scarves/sweaters/costumes. So I grabbed what I could find in my closet and somehow came up with a very agreeable HP uniform (well, I thought it passed anywhoo).

It wasn't until after that I realized it'd also be my last time ever dressing up for HP anything. I won't be too sentimental about my HP childhood and what not, but there's really nothing else like it. What other series has people lining up from dawn to midnight just to be the first to get their hands on the newest novel and newest movie? Or dressing up in ridiculous yet amazeball costumery from head to toe? (Well I suppose LOTR comes close but...but, yeah, no). And what other series has had their own custom 3D glasses? I'm actually a tad disappointed I didn't get to see it in 3D; I really would pay the extra four bucks for those glasses and to have Voldemort's ashes all up in my face. Alas.

Sheer delights

Bustier-- Charlotte Russe
Boots-- Thrifted
Shorts-- DIY Levis
Bag-- DIY
Sheer bathrobe worn as shirt-- Mom's closet; Victoria's Secret

Wore this to the flea market. This bathrobe is probably one of the best things in my wardrobe at the moment. Actually, I'm not sure what the correct term for it is, because when I think of bathrobe I think of fluffy heavy long warm...robes. This is more like a kimono sheer wrap thing, but with the bathrobe ties and all.

Anyways, it's the perfect summer wrap, light and breezy as air...And it's technically underwear worn as outerwear, but who cares when it's summer?

DIY: Bleached denim sleeves

Dumped the sleeves in a bucket of bleach. Left overnight. Wash, wring, and dry. Done.

Knick Knack Purchases

Picked the bottles up from a local flea market ($2 for the brown, $4 for the clear). My mother thinks they're quite an eyesore but I think they've just got character. Flowers are from the weekly farmer's market (2 for $6).
Scrap of red leather for $5. Raw material for a clutch.
Unknown tail for $2. I never buy fur products (mink coats, fur scarves, etc.). But I made a slight exception here since it was from a flea market, so my rationale was that buying a secondhand fur good wouldn't perpetuate animal slaughter in commercial businesses.
Feather earrings from street stand in SF, from my fourth of July trip. $8? Can't remember.
Close up of my new dream-catcher key chain. Reminds me of Arizona (I went on a 2 week immersion trip at the beginning of summer).

A day in the city

Wore this to San Francisco for a day trip on the Fourth of July and took these pictures upon returning to my friend's house after.

Sheer shirt, Bag, +Boots-- Thirfted
Vest-- MetroPark [which is going out of business =( ]
Bandeau-- ASOS
Hat+Polka dot tights-- F21
Jeans--Sisters's Levi's; DIY
Socks--Target
Assorted rings--F21&Thrifted

Some architectural art structure, Bubba Gump where we had lunch, the aquarium we snuck into, a shot of the city as we cut across strange unknown streets trying to find out way back to BART, and at a transfer station on our way home for fireworks (which we ended up watching from the car/on our friends' shoulders because traffic made it impossible to get to the park or find parking). All in all, one of the best days of summer.
