Witchy witchy.

This black shirt-thing and these black boots make me feel like Sabrina, or Elphaba, or Samantha, or something (kudos if you'd got 3/3 of the references). Wore this to a friend's surprise birthday BBQ. Excuse the rather awkward smooshed smiles and unflattering shots in these last two posts; they were all taken in the same hour and I was too lazy to do anything with my face.

DIY Balayage/Ombre Hair

The results of me and my $10 highlighting kit by Loreal or Clairol (can't remember exactly...) at 12 AM, on a school night.  I'm very very very happy, no, thrilled with the way it turned out (in part because I was just so damn relieved it didn't end up a monstrosity, or my hair didn't fall out, or anything like that). It's a bit more dramatic than what shows up in the pictures, I think.

Anyways, it saved me a $70+ trip to the salon and all the horror stories I've read of highlights/hair dyes gone bad have been in salons; plus if I messed up with an at-home job, I would've only wasted 10 bucks! While as if they had screwed up my hair at the salon, it would've been that $70 down the drain plus a lot of scolding from my mother. I'd never hear the end of it.

Credits to this girl/lady/woman/female (gosh I never know how to refer to young women without sounding awkward or offending or overly formal) for giving me the guts to go through with it. Easy peasy poo.

Catching up

It's been a while since I had a personal post just for myself, or at least one that I've put public. So just a quick reflection...

A brick wall hit me when I returned a couple of weeks ago from spring break. It was this mounting mountain of neverending tests and all-too-important exams and then...this week, this morning actually, sitting our exam room as the four hour exam clobbered everyone's hopes for college, I realized that after these two weeks of brutal testing, I'm done. Well, technically not done, but so, so close. The most excruciating part of my four years here will be ending its climax and it'll start winding down, and I can finally sigh and pat myself on the back, all that, because the worst is over, and even though I've emerged somewhat mangled and maimed in the head a bit, it's done.

And it's been warm lately. So warm. 85 may not seem like terribly hot weather, but to me it felt summer was so close I could stick out my tongue and just taste it and breathe it in and think wow just get me through this month and everything will just fly by from there onto uni.

I always get that first feeling of summer when the nights become sweet enough to leave the windows open. Somehow the days seem to jump so quickly from it's-too-cold-to-wear-anything-but-thick-frumpy-jackets to the days of it's-too-hot-to-even-bother-dressing-nice. Uncomfortably cold to irritatingly warm, and no room in between for a combination of nice pretty layers.

Anyways. Just got to suck it up these last few weeks and hold my breath until June 2nd.
